Open House Goes Well
About 50 people from numerous departments (and even from outside the University) visited the Open House for the new Studio for New Media offices, touring the new facility and being shown the equipment that will be available this fall for students and faculty.
Sport Literature Association Multimedia Published
Members of the Studio, working on two DVDs for the XXII Annual Conference of the Sport Literature Association, have posted one of the presentations online, in streaming format.

SNM Website Updated
The Studio for New Media website has been upgraded from Plone 2.0.0 to Plone 2.5.2, the current version. This will enable many new features, some of which will be useful to the entire community.
Marantz A/V Switcher, Amplifier, Upconverter Installed
The Studio has recently installed a Marantz SR5001 receiver, which controls A/V inputs from all sources in the room, then routes them to all needed devices.

New Wiring Diagram Unveiled
Sometimes the equipment in the Studio can be confusing. So here's the 2006-07 wiring diagram, which can help advanced users understand how all the equipment is interconnected.
High-Definition Projector Installed
The Studio has just installed an Hitachi PJTX100 projector, which can project 720p HDTV video and 1280x800 computer video (almost twice the resolution of our old projector).
TC Library Reaches 10,000 Entries
The EServer Technical Communication Library, a website run by several members of the Studio for New Media (dedicated to indexing, rating and reviewing online writings in technical, scientific and professional communication) this week added its ten thousandth entry.

LASCAC funding supports new equipment to be installed in the next few weeks in the Studio.
Edirol R-1 Arrives
A new digital audio recorder, an Edirol R-1, was purchased by one of the research teams working in the Studio, and will now be available for Studio members who need to record meetings, lectures or other events.
New File Server Arrives
A new, 1-terabyte rack-mounted file server has arrived and is being installed in the air-conditioned server rack.
N6 Added to the Studio
N6, the qualitative data coding and analysis software (formerly known as NUD*IST), has arrived and been installed in the Studio.
Videotaping Student Presentations
Rachel Johnson and Katy Jaekel, two student members of the Studio, have posted a short video they created this spring for instructors at Iowa State interested in videotaping student presentations.

English Department Website Launched
After a year of work, a team of Studio members last week launched the new ISU English Department website, which now employs a modern, database-driven content management system for organizing more then 2,200 HTML pages.
