New Seagate 'Projects' Drive Fails
The new 1TB Seagate Barracuda 'Projects' hard drive on the SNM2 Mac Pro died last week, with an 'S.M.A.R.T.' alert that indicated physical problems with the drive.
The new 1TB Seagate Barracuda 'Projects' hard drive on the SNM2 Mac Pro (the purple workstation) died last week, with a 'S.M.A.R.T.' alert that indicated physical problems with the drive.
We were able to copy all the files from that drive before removing it; they been placed on the 'RAID' volume (the location for short-term work in progress, rather than longer-term project storage).
So: if you had files on the 'Projects' drive, they're now on the 'RAID' volume. A new, replacement 1-terabyte drive has been installed in its place. Feel free to move your files from 'RAID' to the new 'Projects' volume at your convenience.
The original will be sent back to Seagate for warranty replacement.
