Marantz A/V Switcher, Amplifier, Upconverter Installed

The dial on the left allows users to select the input they desire: our audiocassette tape player, DVD player, MiniDV/SVHS VCR, microphone, MediaGate digital video source or any of the computers in the room. The audio is then upconverted to Dolby 7.1 surround-sound audio and upconverted to 720p or 1080i high-definition video, and then sent to all the multimedia devices in the room (including the TV monitor, the projector, and the wireless headphones).

This will significantly improve the quality of signal we'll have for A/V over the small, confusing, Radio Shack switch we've been using in the past.

If you don't believe me about the many, many new options we'll have for incorporating audio and video, look at the enormous number of ports on the back:

This device, which permits us for the first time to get A/V data from DVI/HDMI digital video sources as well as fiber-optic digital surround sound audio, will both improve the quality and tremendously simplify switching between A/V sources in the Studio.

Wiring for the various components will be completed over the course of the next week. If you have questions about how to use the system, please contact Geoff Sauer or look forward to an upcoming tour of the Studio facilities we'll offer in February, for users who haven't visited lately.
