Aleratec CD/DVD Duplicator
The Studio has a new CD/DVD duplicator for members (teachers and researchers who develop new media).
This semester the Studio received and installed a new computerless DVD duplicator for the video workstation. Studio members can place a CD or DVD they've created into the top bin, then place one to seven blank disks into the seven slots below, then press the green button and the system will copy the original to however many blank disks have been inserted. It will copy CDs in four minutes, DVDs in five to ten minutes.
The new DVD recorder will duplicate whichever disk is placed in the top drawer--audio, video or data disks (though not copy-protected commercial videos). It is not connected to the computers or the videocassette decks. The duplicator will record CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+R DL (dual-layer) media. This is to say, it records every common format.
It is not intended to copy commercial audio or video; its purpose is solely for teaching and research purposes. U.S. copyright laws apply to all use of the system. If you need to produce a large number of disks, we recommend that you contact the ISU Instructional Technology Center, which has facilities for large-scale duplication.
